申請美國簽證，必需親自前往金鐘領使館面試，排隊已花了一個多小時，但與領使面試官的對答，就只花了約一分鐘，然後即時獲通知VISA己被批准。（有關如何網上申請及預約美國簽證，請看上一篇：【遊記‧美國】香港人首次申請美國簽證‧網上預約篇）
美國簽證面試基本資料：
準備事項：$50(拍攝證件相)、預約確認信、特區護照、身份證、公司信、工作證明（如強積金、稅單等等）、書籍（進入安檢後，手機將被暫存）
預計需時：2-3小時
地址：香港中環花園道26號
注意事項：進入美國總領事館後，不可擕帶火機、水、飲料及食物等；過安檢後，手機、電池等均需儲存在領事館儲物櫃，可帶備書籍翻閱。
第一步：事前準備
公司信：必定要有，信上需有身份證或護照號碼、到職日期、職位、月薪，如已請好大假去旅行，可填上請假時間，可增加批准的機會。
旅遊計劃：即使沒有，亦要先準備好一條旅遊路線，以備面試人員問起。
證件相：基本上要特地去拍攝，因為要露耳朵、不可戴眼鏡等，以及2cmx2cm白底背景，面試當日亦準備$50，以備有機會重拍。
書籍：雖然大家建議帶備，但筆者帶去的書籍都沒有機會翻閱，所以可有可無。
第二步：面試流程
進入領使館後，不准帶有水及食物，排隊交表後，不少人的證件照片被彈回頭，要花$50拍攝即影即有證件相，然後排隊過安檢，手機、電池等會被存起，再排隊打指摸，然後便隔著窗，接受面試人員查問（還以為是見工一樣，被安排進房間，結果是與申請身份證一樣，隔著窗查問）。
以下為筆者與面試人員對答：
問題1
面試官：Tell me your travel plan. 告訴我你的旅遊計劃。
筆者：Los Angeles. 洛杉磯
問題2
面試官：Are you traveling alone? 你獨自去旅遊嗎？
筆者：maybe meet up with a friend. Not sure yet. 可能與一位朋友會合，未肯定。
問題3
面試官：What do you do in Hong Kong? 你在香港的工作是甚麼？
筆者：(筆者職業，媒體工作)
問題4
面試官：Where did you travel? 你去過那裡旅遊？
筆者：Europe, Australia. 歐洲，澳洲。
面試官：Your visa is approved. 你的簽證己批准。
第三步：等待領取護照
面試後數個工作天，便有速遞把護照送至你填寫的地址，美國VISA會被貼在其中一頁上。（筆者遲面試後2天收到自己的護照。）
其他事項：
美國簽證有效期不受特區護照有效期影響，香港特區護照過期也能使用，更換特區護照後，請保留舊護照，進入美國時，需同時展示舊護照上的美國簽證，以及新護照。

I am a working mother. I plan to have a trip in Alaska in coming summer with my husband and 2 teenage children who are still studying in primary school, will the children have chance to get the US visa successfully?
Just wondering do I need to book a ticket first or I don’t need to? Cuz I ve heard people saying u need to have a tickets to apply the visa

if you are student, the chance get rejected would be higher. You should at least have university cert. and/or exam result, bank statement (to prove you wouldn’t go for illegal work), etc. to let them believe you would leave after the trip. Also, if they’d ask for how you get the money for the trip, better tell them you have family’s financial support.
Based on many cases mentioned on internet and my own experience, If you traveled to other countries, such as Australia, Western Europe, New Zealand, etc. would get higher chance to be approved.
If you’ve already had employment contract after graduation that would be better. However, it depends on different cases. Good Luck for it!
It’s my first time apply US visa. If I am a freelance designer work at home without employer refer letter. I did not have my own property. Is that mean I will not apply visa successfully?
it would be considered lower chance. will be safer if you have document (company letter, school letter, property, etc.)Plus, if you are well traveled to other countries, such as Europe, Australia, etc. may have higher chance. if you are single female, better with either document, or very possible to get rejected🙈🙈
